Ricin is a toxin that is fatal to humans in extremely small doses. While several people were exposed to the toxin, no one suffered any ill effects. Three Senate buildings were temporarily closed as authorities from the Department of Health and Human Services conducted tests to determine if all of the fatal powder had been eliminated.
